reference images and research

i chose images to help with ideas for each part so im gonna explain a few cos u might think wtf lol

Scarecrow








for the scarecrows i looked at lots of different types, the wizard of oz, howls moving castle and things like that i even looked at the scarecrow from jeepers creepers to help get ideas for my character.

i looked at standard pics we associate heaven with at first to get these images above, i then thought of what scare crow heaven would be like and i thought there would be lots of hay and things like that and open fields and spaces and instead of bared gates like heaven has i was thinking it might be barn gates like a hay barn so i looked at barn for some ideas.

after the barns i decided to look at hay and hay fields to give me more ideas.
i then thought to myself if ur in heaven and there is a lot of hay what dont you want, especially if ur made up of hay aswell and fire cand smoking came to mind, so i decided to look at some no smoking and no fire signs to add a lil humore and fun into my story.

after looking at images for my 3 parts of the story i started looking at things we would see along the way of my story and things like the path going through the field down to the farm house and things like that so thats y i have these images.

and now im off to finish my drawings for my storyboard so im ready to start photoshoping and scanning. cya

more time off uni due to my back lol and psycho the movie "1960"

well i got some tablets and they seem to be helping a little so i should be back to uni soon, hopefully.

althought iv had this time off ive been doing a lot of work at home, im finishing off my story board images now so they should be up pretty soon and i have a lot of reference images which im loading up after this blog entry.

i couldnt make it inot uni today so instead i went to my mate who owns a video store funny enough and i asked him if i could borrow the original psycho and what video store wouldnt be complete without it lol, so iv watched it today and for some reason even tho in black and white, i really enjoyed the film, the scenes where fake and the action sucked but the story worked and the way it was set out with the camera angles i thought where brilliant, the construction of the film is what made this film briliant, one of my fav scenes was the part where she pulls up to the motel and she cant find any1 so she looks up at the house on the hill, classic horror house on top of the hill towering up and over the victim, i loved this scene and the image brought across to the audience. and when the mother drifted past the lit window and we see her silouet.

this film in my own opinion is definatly one of hitchcock's best films, even for its age it was thrilling in some aspects to today, i did a little research on the film and apparently when it was released back in the 1960's there where cues of cars going back 3 miles for the drive in entrances. i also found out that the man who plays norman bates "anthony perkins" he became so identified with bates that it altered his carreer and he shunned talking about his part until the 1970's and finally made peace with norman bates.

bad timing

well i have had a pretty bad weekend so far and the same friday aswell, i dunno what iv done but iv fucked up my back and it kills, its been actin up a lil over the past few weeks but just thought nothing of it but now its really starting to hurt and its pretty hard to move without being in pain and that with pain killers, and what a time to just befor the interim crit, hopefully i can make it in to uni, but even tho its been pretty bad iv had some time to think about my project and get some work done for it, iv wrote down each part of my story every few clips in so you can get a good idea of the story now and im just typeing it up, im also going over camera angels to work out which would be better.

once completed im gonna draw up a story board in rough quickly and scan it in and use photoshop to make my animatic and add some music to it, once all that has been done im confident in 3d so i should be able to get an animation done pre-viz quite quickly which should hopefully leave me with the whole of the last week to write up my essay, if iv done my time management correct lol.

in the interim crit thats gonna be the topic i would like help on most, the essay.

for my work so far tho i have a lot of reference images and even pictures i will be taken myself of surounding areas cos i have a few friends who live in areas which are what im putting into my story such as hay stacks, barns, farms and that kinda stuff so im getting a nice pile of images which should hopefully be uploaded when i can move and get around lol.

all in all these past few days have been inspiring and i think my story is coming along nicely but its still lacking something but im not sure what it is, hopefully i can get some help and feedback from class mates.

anyway im off to finish writing up this story on here and getting some more pain killers lol

Navigation project part 1

ok this is my first blog update for the project to do with navigation, we have to create a story board animatic and a pre viz animation that we could then give to a professional who could then go and create a highly detailed animation of our work.

the first lesson we had we where given 3 things to work with to help shape our story

i was given

character: scarecrow
environment: Heaven
object: jigsaw puzzle

at first it was quite hard to work out a story involving these things but with the help from people in our class and talking i thought up a little story which i have been working on for the past week and creating a story board which i am drawing up at the moment. i am then gonna take the storyboard, colour in photoshop and create the animatic using premier or flash and add some music, after i have created these i am going to work on the pre viz animation.

here is my story so far well what i have thought of, i am twaeking it as i go tho so this is a rough draft


on a farm, there is a farmer with a disability, he cant walk, he has a puzzle which he gives to his daughter, as she sets off with the puzzle down the track road, she drops the puzzle accidently at the scarecrows feet, the farmer goes over to the puzzle and picks it up, he hands the puzzle to the scarecrow who then sets off for the farmer to give the puzzle back to his daughter.

on the scarecrows journey the scarecrow gets hit by a truck and we think he has died, the scarecrow opens his eyes and is at the gates to scarecrow heaven, he goes through the big farm gates and goes into heaven, he see's haystacks everywhere and loads of other scarecrows, he wanders around for a bit and then remembers the puzzle in his pocket, as he remembers the puzzle he suddenly falls through the hay and plumets towards earth, towards his body, he suddenly opens his eyes and see's the farmers daughter looking over him, he gives her the puzzle and she takes the puzzle and starts to rearange the pieces to make the puzzle, we then see the final puzzle and it is an image of the farmer, his daughter and the scarecrow standing together all happy, the farmers daughter smiles at the scarecrow and the scarecrow heads off back to the farm.

when he gets to the farm he stands in his usual spot and smiles at the farmer, the farmer smiles back and walks into the farm house and the screen fades to black
